Virtuell Privat Server - Ett sikkert valg?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Alpha and the Week Ahead

Fueled by a benign CPI report and a continuation in the recent mind boggling level of corporate deal making, U.S. Equity Markets continued their bull run this past week as most of the major averages posted gains. Grabbing the headlines’ almost daily are the record breaking closing numbers of the Dow Jones Industrial Index which is up 8.8% year-to-date followed by the S&P 500 Index up 7.6% and the NASDAQ Composite Index up 5.9%.
I’ve posted the complete notes for our Honeymoon (complete with bonus spelling errors!), and I’ll be adding more pictures over the next week or so.

Cary and I have been typing up notes about our honeymoon, but since we have to pay for internet access, we haven’t had a chance to post it online yet. I’ve posted up some quick notes on our trip so far. . .

Could this be the year?

Losing the NL Division title may have been the kick in the pants the team needed. It’s been 15 years since the Braves began their NL Championship streak (not counting the 1994 strike when there was no championship, of course), and 12 years since their 1995 World Series win. It’s about time for another one, I think.

When I first started this blog, I mentioned being at a Braves game in 1992 when Otis Nixon made a fabulous catch that robbed the Pirates of a game-tying home run late in the game. After a little searching, I finally found footage of the catch on Youtube (the footage starts at the 1:35 mark in the video, or the 3:00 mark if the counter is counting down):

This should be really exciting. It’s not to often that you get such a powerhouse match up this early in the season, but today we do. Texas has looked extremely solid on all aspects of their game and to date Duke has not. The Blue Devils have basically played to the cailber of the team they were matched up against and it took a last second shot to win one of them. This game will totally live up to the hype and in the end Duke will prevail.

Ok, so for a while now, some people have mentioned that the menu sidebar overlaps the comments section of the page when you try posting a comment. As it turns out, this is a glitch that occurs only when you’re not logged in to the site, which explains why I never saw it.
It’s baseball season again, and only three games in, the Braves are showing promise. They swept the Phillies 3-0, which is a great way to start things off. It’s waaaay to early to make any predictions, but it feels good, anyway. Two of the three games were won with a extra-inning rallies, which was how the Braves won many games in their golden days in the early 90’s.

But more amazing are the less spotlighted gains of the Dow Jones Utilities (up 16.8% thus far in ’07), the Dow Jones Transports (up 14.3%), the S&P Mid Cap 400 (up 11.7%) and the Energy Index up (11.4%). We have focused on all of these sectors in our commentary over the past several months as recommended areas of alpha generation.

Despite the record highs in the major indexes, the technical condition of the market has deteriorated some this week. The advance/decline lines for both the NYSE and the NASDAQ lost some ground, a sign that the bullish momentum is losing strength. An abundance of liquidity continues to support this market along with a fair amount of skepticism on the sentiment front.

I haven’t told my husband this.

I just want to change things. Live. Not change. Go back to how things were. Change things? I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Seize the Day

At this point, all I would do is take hold–forcibly, clearly, and completely. Overwhelmingly.

I wish…
36. I haven’t told my husband this.
37. He writes too, though, so he’d understand.
38. I think I like Veggie Tales even more than my children do.
39. When I was in college, I would often be referred to as “Tootie” - that’s what you get for doing skits on 80’s TV shows.
40. I went to college at 16 and graduated at 20.
41. I have a BA in Bible and Biblical Languages.
42. I was the only girl in 2nd year Greek and second semester Hebrew. I was one of two in Aramaic.
43. I went on my first date when I was 17, and I am still friends with the guy who took me out.
44. One of my very favorite things to do is go shopping (grocery or otherwise) without children.
45. I refuse to cook on Teflon or aluminum.
According to WRAL, units are preselling for $200,000. If that refers to the smallest unit, 883 square feet, then the unit is only $226 per square foot. Given new construction, the view, and the panache of living in Raleigh’s tallest building, that’s a pretty fair price. Surely the larger units are more per foot, but these prices are quite competitive with comparable projects in southern residential towers.”

If you can’t make money on that deal, you can’t make money. Raleigh appreciation and Cary appreciation rates will likely not apply to the downtown appreciation of this project. Each project’s appreciation will be tied to the buildings success as well as downtown inventory. And this one looks like a winner, congrats to the people that scooped me.

While you are at the RBC Plaza you can go over to Yancy’s. I have not been yet but would love to get your thoughts on it. Let me know what you think.
46. My husband and I have a 32 inch TV, but we don’t have cable.
47. I love crazy socks.
48. I do not like high heels.
49. I am allergic to all animals.
50. I hate it when my cell-phone rings.
51. Unless it’s my husband calling.
52. I have been married for 10 days.
53. There are 6 pairs of scissors on my desk and I’m particular about which ones are used for what.
54. Every year I buy a Mary Englebreit wall calendar, but I rarely ever write anything on it.
55. I have a quote from “Alice in Wonderland” painted on my dining table.
I were a vervet monkey, chewing on flowers amoung the tree-top canopies in Africa…. I wish my mind could be completely freed.

I finally get a break, after going non-stop for more than a month. I can actually sleep tonight for the first time in forever. And am I ever looking foward to it.

I guess I’m not willing to actually write what I should say…I don’t know what I would anyway. I just feel so…hhh. I mean, I’m great. Just different and weird. That’s all lies. I don’t know what I’m like. I hate my brain sometimes. I did this study at the dentistry school yesterday. It was a jaw study: they looked at my jaw for about 15 minutes, then for the next hour and a half they pushed me, poked me, stabbed me, tried to scare me, squeezed me, BURNT me, and needled…me. But hey, anything for a buck.

Hhh. I wish I knew what I wanted right now. I guess I just need time.

Second Non-Approvable Letter

Forest Laboratories, Inc. , an international pharmaceutical manufacturer and marketer, today reported that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a second non-approvable letter for the indication of Panic Disorder for Lexapro(R) (escitalopram oxalate), an SSRI antidepressant. The Company indicated that the letter was pursuant to an FDA review of its response, dated August 2004, to an initial non-approvable letter which raised issues related to methods and statistical analyses performed for the two placebo-controlled trials provided in the submission. The Company is currently reviewing the FDA’s response in order to determine the appropriate action regarding the Panic Disorder submission. Both studies included in the submission have been previously published in medical journals. Lexapro is indicated for the initial and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder and for generalized anxiety disorder in adults.
bitch wrote it off as a zit, but she was obviously disgusted with me, even through her Botox face I could read it…

Winding Up
Well I made it through “finding nemo” without stealing popcorn out of the hands of the 4-year old I took to the movie, though he was trying to get me to eat some–they start early. I chomped on my 30 pistachoes in the dark, sucking the salt of the shells, washing it down with my $100.00 diet coke.
Came home, famished, which is annoying since this already skinny lady in my office who is doing the SBD for those pesky last 5 lbs (pet peve–I mean, she should be in the 25+ club to join) claimed she was never hungry in Phase I, I wanted to say “you are probably never hungry anyway,” but she is actually pretty nice. So I managed to George Forman a chicken breast with chii garlic paste, soy sauce, and some ginger-total ghetto gourmet, and I even steamed two artichockes, and I rosted that caulflower for tommorrow- and it tastes AWESOME! Garlic, olive oil,

I think Jeff was drunk or that sugar he had totally worked. Maybe both. Kim and I tangoed a few times and just danced like freaks.. I dosie-doed with Mandy, Kim, Lauren, April, and Miriam. I danced for a min. with Mandy. And I tried to get matt to dance with Jeff. ( like were outta this world!!!) When the Safety Dance was on but Jeff and him wouldn’t so everyone else just danced like they were outta this world and looked at matt’s pants!! It was really really really fun and wish it had lasted longer..’till like 2 AM as Jeff suggested, but Jeff’s a bit messed up…..”We can dance if we want to, we can leave your friends behind, ’cause if your friends don’t dance then the’re no friends of mine!” It was nice seeing friends like Matt and Miriam who I haven’t seen in a while.
